On November 10, Monica played in a trio with her friends, Emily and Sara Hamilton, for the YW Evening In Excellence program. Emily has been giving her guitar lessons and teaching her how to play for one of her Personal Progress projects.

On November 13th, we surprised Grandma and Grandpa Walden with a 50th Anniversary party! Many of the family were able to attend a dinner and nice program that celebrated their lives, including a nostalgic DVD picture presentation. They were presented with a beautiful quilted wall hanging of the St. George Temple, and a "Book of Remembrance" filled with pages of memories written by their posterity. (Thank you to Anne, Rose, Michael, Jenn, Jon, Sara, Teresa, Maria, and Will, and their families, for helping to create such a memorable evening for Mom and Dad!) I truly have an amazing family!
...for a couple of weeks we looked for opportunities to serve, then wrote them down on the back of the feathers we hand crafted for our Tom Turkey. We worked hard to make sure that he was "dressed" by Thanksgiving! (Spencer's artistic feathers seemed to get chosen as quickly as he created them...) -smile-

Time to share a meal with those you love, and
Hear how everyone is doing.
A time to reflect on blessings,
Needs, and
Kindnesses given and received.
Shared traditions that make us
Grateful for ties that bind.
Grateful for ties that bind.
Inspite of difficulties and
Various challenges, we are
Inspired by a common goal to
Nurture and grow a
Grand and Eternal Family!

Melinda decided to do a "dress up" book report on a book she enjoyed reading this month. -smile-
One of my dear friends lent me a DVD to watch entitled, "Gandhi". -WOW!- It helped me appreciate and understand the culture and history of India better, as well as some of the challenges of racial prejudices that exist in our world. What a humble example Gandhi was of moral courage in the face of unrighteous persecution and opposition! I was inspired by several quotes from the movie:
"You must show courage. Be willing to take several blows to show you will not strike back, nor will you be turned aside."
"It's always the simple things that catch your breath."
"If you are a minority of one - the truth is the truth."
"They cannot take away our self respect if we do not give it to them."
-Thank you Leah, for sharing that with me!-
